Charles R Walter 43' Console in Excellent Condition
For sale - lovely Charles R. Walter Model 1520 Traditional style 43' console in Gloss Cherry. Built in 1986, serial #509292.
This piano is one of the highest-quality pianos made in the U.S. today. It is similar to Steinway or Mason & Hamlin in quality. Although it is only 43' tall, this model is virtually the same piano inside as the 45' Charles R Walter studio, and it also has a full sized action, and long keys, just like the taller 45' studio model, so you are literally getting the quality and sound of the taller studio (Model 1500) in a shorter, decorator cabinet. Despite the height difference, the Walter console and studio models have the same size soundboard and the same string length. (The trick is this model has shorter casters and the bottom is closer to the floor than the studio model). As a matter of fact, because of the special design of these pianos, they have longer bass strings than many 48 to 52 inch tall big-name studio pianos currently on the market, (-and you can hear it in the sound.)
Unlike some other well-known piano brands being sold today, there is no particleboard anywhere in this piano - it is all solid 5 ply lumbercore construction, just like the traditional quality pianos of yesteryear. The frame or harp in this piano is cast by the OS Kelly foundry - the same company that makes the castings for Steinway. (-In fact, is now owned by Steinway.)
This piano has had one owner and has been lovingly cared for. There is very little wear on the parts, and it still looks almost like-new inside and outside. It has just recently been cleaned, tuned and regulated. Tone quality and touch are wonderful, -comparable to that of a 5'8' grand piano. Must be seen, heard and played to be appreciated.
This is an heirloom quality piano, -one that will last for generations.
Asking $4500./Offer (New Manufacturer's list price for this model is $14,230.)
